"Dunnies Down Under"

Melbourne, Australia // 19 November 2009 // Local Activist: Australian Toilet Organisation & WaterAid Australia

The humble “dunny” is, of course, Australian slang for any toilet or toilet facility.  And whilst the word is often used flippantly to poke fun at the Australian toilet experience, it is clear that the Aussies are starting to take the dunny dilemma seriously. In November 2009 the Australian Toilet Organisation and WaterAid Australia took the “Where Would You Hide?” exhibition to Melbourne with the intention of kicking-off a nationwide tour.

The orange figures, the supporter point and the tie-up with the WTO’s “Big Squat” event, all combined to make a real impact on the Melburnians, who couldn’t help but be drawn into the topic.
